Ascend FS10 Fishing Kayak Review

Hey Guys, Here is my review of the new Ascend FS10 Kayak from BPS.

I love to spend time with my kids out on the water. I also love to fish. In the past I was using a standard aluminum canoe, and it got the job done but it was quite a pain to transport/carry to the launch site. I started looking for kayak fishing options and stumbled upon the Ascend FS10 at BassPro.

During my purchasing process I took the time to look at many different kayak manufactures and styles. I learned alot about kayaks in the process but kept coming back to the Ascend FS10. The FS10 design seemed to capture all of the different positive qualitiies I found in higher-end kayaks but at a much better price. The kayak seemed to track well, had plenty of storage, nice seat, paddle leash, and it was light-weight compared to some of the other beasts I had been looking at.

I made the purchase and took it out that same day. I was instantly impressed by the FS10 ability to track in straight line, make relatively quick turns, and its stability on the water. The wind was up and the chop on the water was fairly high, but I stayed completely dry in the FS10.

Since that day I have paddled in many different envirments and conditions. I really think I made the right decision purchasing the Sit-In Kayak vs Sit-On-Top Kayak. I have not had any issues with water getting in the boat. I can easily fish and paddle from my position. I feel very stable in the kayak.

These boat has a lot of nice features. For example the seat is very comfortable and easy to adjust while paddling. I can even recline it fully and lie back to relax after a long paddle. The foot-pegs are great and really improve the overall comfort and feel of riding in the Ascend FS10 kayak. The rear of the boat has a very large storage area on the deck. I can easily bungee my milk-crate down back there and swivel around the pluck things out. The kayak also has two fishing rod holders built-in that are easily reached from the cock-pit. There is a front-rod holder as well, I find it is a bit of a reach to grab it but easily doable.

In conclusion, this kayak is a blast. It is lightweight enough that I can easily toss it into the truck and hit the lake all by myself. No need for kayak dollys or trailers. I am discovering more and more new places to fish due to simple ease of getting on the water. My back thanks me everyday as well for getting rid of that canoe. I am happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone.
